Organic fertilizer for 45000 hectares of cultivated lands during the Maha season
The National Fertilizer Secretariat says that steps will be taken to supply organic fertilizer to 45,000 hectares of cultivated lands during the forthcoming Maha season.
Its director Mahesh Gammanpila stated that it will be done under four categories.
Under this, only organic fertilizer will be supplied to 2000 hectares of cultivated lands.
The Director of the National Fertilizer Secretariat Mahesh Gammanpila stated that no chemical fertilizers are used for these lands.
Organic fertilizer will be provided to 1300 hectares in the Kegalle District and 700 hectares in the Kalutara, Matara and Gampaha Districts.
Organic fertilizer is supplied to 2000 hectares in Gampaha district at the rate of 70%.
Mr. Mahesh Gammanpila stated that organic fertilizer will be provided on a 50% basis for 1000 hectares under the program.
460 million has been allocated for the purchase of organic fertilizer alone during this Maha season.
