The government says it has removed the surcharge of 26 rupees for a liter of petrol and diesel.
The Minister of Power and Energy Mahinda Amaraweera stated that this decision was taken due to the rapid increase in fuel prices in the world market.
The CPC will incur a loss of Rs.35 per liter of petrol by removing the fuel surcharge.
A loss of Rs 25 per liter of diesel, he said.
However, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera stressed that there would be no increase in fuel prices.
