Lowest monthly vehicle import expenditure after 10 years in July 2020

Expenditure on private vehicle imports fell sharply by 93.6 percent in July 2020, recording the lowest monthly vehicle import expenditure since December 2009, the Central Bank said.

Expenditure on private vehicle imports in July 2020 was US $ 6.1 million, a decrease of 93.6% compared to US $ 95.4 million in private vehicle import expenditure in July 2019.

For the first seven months of 2020, the figure was $ 279.5 million. This is a decrease of 33.4 percent over the $ 419.6 million in private vehicle import expenditure in the first seven months of 2019.
