Corona death toll rises to 66 in Sri Lanka

The death toll from corona infection in the country has risen to 66. That is with the death of 5 more people due to corona infection yesterday (17).

The victims were two men aged 65 and 82 and three women aged 69, 71 and 81. Three of the five died in their homes.

The 65 year old man is a resident of Colombo 10. The Government Information Department stated that he was admitted to the Punani Treatment Center and later to the Welikanda Base Hospital after being diagnosed with a corona infection and died at the hospital. The cause of death was said to be corona infection with high blood pressure.

An 82-year-old man from Dematagoda has died at home due to a corona infection with complications of diabetes, the Government Information Department said.

A 69-year-old woman from Ratmalana and a 71-year-old woman from Kirulapone died at their homes, the Government Information Department said. The cause of death for both of them is said to be a corona infection with complications of diabetes and high blood pressure.

The 81 year old woman who is being treated at the National Hospital is a resident of Colombo 2. The Government Information Department said that pneumonia with corona infection was the cause of her death.
