‘Democracy was ensured through public force’
A special meeting of the United National Party seat organizers and Provincial Councillors was held today under the patronage of party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The meeting was held at the Temple Trees.
Speaking during the conference the UNP Leader said the present political fight was strengthened due to the commitment of Provincial Councillors of the party.
The Leader of the UNP stated on the 26th of October a notice was issued stating that he was removed from the post of Prime Minister while adding however no one had removed him at the time and that he didn’t even receive a letter.
UNP Leader Wickremesinghe said he decided to spend that night at the Temple Trees adding by morning a large crowd had gathered at the Temple Trees.
The UNP Leader said since then he continued the program because of the commitment of Provincial Councillors.
The Leader of the UNP added if not for the Provincial Councillors, there will be no democracy in the country and no Parliament or Speaker.
UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe stressed it is because of the steps the Provincial Councillors took that the public force was displayed.
