JVP hopes to dissolve parliament
Leader of the Opposition R. Sampanthan expressing his views to the media following parliamentary session said that the government benches were empty today as the members boycotted parliament.
He said that if the government members do not attend parliament, they will not be able to rule the country. The Opposition leader further noted that there is no government to the country.
The leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake also expressing his views noted that the government MPs are accusing the Speaker of being biased.
He noted that what the JVP has been continuously saying is that this conspiracy should be defeated, but that shouldn’t be done by Ranil taking Mahinda’s seat or Mahinda taking Ranil’s seat.
Dissanayake noted that this is a problem about democracy, therefore the first attempt should be to defeat the conspiracy and after that, the JVP is hoping to bring a proposal to dissolve parliament and to give the people an opportunity to create a new parliament.
Meanwhile, Ranil Wickremesinghe met with UPFA MP Kumara Welgama when entering the parliamentary complex. The journalists present at the location were not allowed to record this moment.
