Several letters which had been sent to President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Inspector General of Police by the Bodu Bala Sena are circulating on social media websites at present. The letters mention secret strategies that were being followed to implement Islamification and the Sharia Law.
The Bodu Bala Sena organization had pointed out in these letters that such activities will cause obstructions to peace and unity in the country and that there is a possibility that an environment of terror could be established under the impact of ISIS Islamic Terrorists.
The Bodu Bala Sena organization had pointed out further that this should not be considered as opposition against Muslims or as racism or religious extremism and that this could have an impact on several sectors such as national security, equality, religious freedom, democracy and gender based society. These had been identified as factors regarding violence and terrorism in the near future.
Anyhow responding to this, Governor of the Western Province Asath Salley, quoting something Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnasara thero about Lord Nabi had made a threat.
Asath Salley had said that no one had the right to make statements regarding the leader of his religion and that he was prepared to kill other people and commit suicide himself.
Responding to this statement, the Bodu Bala Sena had sent a letter to the IGP and pointed out that, this controversial statement was one similar to those made by ISIS.
The Bodu Bala Sena organization had informed the IGP that this was their final warning and said that a death threat had been issued through public media.
Since a majority of Muslims have not taken up this trend of extremism, if no action is taken by all immediately, to suppress this situation, the Bodu Bala Sena organization had mentioned that they believe that the situation could worsen. They had pointed this out in the letter sent to the IGP.
