Two Sri Lankan-made Ravana 1 satellites are scheduled to orbit today, marking Sri Lanka’s name in the global space age.
The Ravana 1 satellite was produced by Tharindu Dayaratne, an engineering graduate from the University of Peradeniya and Dulani Chamika Vithanage, a graduate of the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.
While they were studying aerospace engineering at the Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan, they produced the satellite.
Arthur C. Clark Center Director of Communications Kavinda Jayawardena said the orbit will be launched at 3.45 pm local time.
He also said that coming to the Arthur C. Clark Center will allow to watch the event live.
