‘SL has highest number of state sector corruption’
Auditor General Gamini Wijesinghe says Sri Lanka takes precedence as a country with the highest number of state sector corruption.
Speaking during an event in Kuruvita Auditor General Wijesinghe said the attitude of state sector employees has led to gaps between the public.
He noted the term good governance has been disregarded adding good governance and honesty are two important qualities the state sector should possess.
While stressing the state sector transformed into an open economy in 1977 Auditor General Wijesinghe said the concept of the open economy is “Consumer is the King”.
However the Auditor General said the Sri Lanka’s state sector failed to adhere to this principle claiming therefore employees of the state sector follow the concept that “the officer is the king”.
