Rs. 77mn Worth Gold Smuggled From Sri Lanka Found In Tamil Nadu
India police seized 11.15 kg of gold of foreign origin that had been smuggled into Mandapam off the Vedhalai coast.
The stock has been smuggled into India from Sri Lanka by sea was transporting by a bus at the time it was seized.
Three suspects who were acting as couriers were arrested in Madurai yesterday.
The gold, valued at 77 million rupees was found cut into different shapes and sizes.
This is the largest consignment of smuggled gold found in Tamil Nadu and in November 2017, 9.2kg of gold was detected in Kondai coast in Southern India and it was smuggled from Sri Lanka.
