Japan’s State Foreign Minister arrives in the island
State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Kazuyuki Nakane has arrived in the island on a three-day official visit.
Airport Correspondent said the Japanese delegation arrived at the Katunayake International Airport at around 10.15 last night.
Japan’s State Foreign Minister who arrived in the island on an official visit is due to meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today.
The Office of the Prime Minister said the meeting is scheduled to get underway at Temple Trees around 9.45 this morning.
The two leaders are expected to direct their attention towards strengthening bilateral ties.
Meanwhile the State Minister is also scheduled to commission the patrol vessels donated by Japan to Sri Lanka under the Grant Aid of the Government of Japan at the Colombo Port.
The two patrol vessels will be handed over to Sri Lanka Coast Guard, which will be utilised to improve maritime safety and strengthen control of the maritime borders.
