Govt. delaying elections – Uva Governor
Governor of the Uva Province Keerthi Tennakoon has charged the government is attempting to introduce Constitutional amendments in order to further delay the conduct of the Provincial Council Election.
Speaking to media after calling on the Chief Prelates of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters the Governor said the conduct of the election is crucial.
He charged the conduct of the election is being delayed, adding efforts are underway to introduce Constitutional amendments to delay the election.
He stated if an amendment of this nature takes place then that should be revealed to the people, adding many examples have been witnessed over the past two months of what damages a rushed amendment can do.
Tennekoon stressed it is their responsibility to work for the people over an unseen Constitutional amendment.
