Trains Services Impeded Following Lightening Restored

The MET Department said that the enhancement of showery conditions to some extent over South-western part of the Island is expected today.

Heavy falls above 100 mm can be expected at some places in Western, Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Owing to the rainy weather conditions sluice gates of few reservoirs have been opened.

Few sluice gates of Parakrama Samudraya, Deduru Oya, Raajanganaya and Angamuwa have accordingly been opened.

Meanwhile, the signal system at Colombo Fort and Maradana Railway stations which malfunctioned yesterday has been restored by now.

A spokesman from the Train Control Room said that the system failed after it was hit by lightning.

Services were affected after the signals failed at 8.45 last night.
