A member of a rugby team which arrived in Sri Lanka from Britain had died after being admitted to hospital with respiratory difficulties.
The deceased is a 26 year old British national.
A team consisting of 22 rugby players arrived in the island last Thursday.
According to Police, the team played at a friendly rugby match series in Colombo on Saturday.
The group is claimed to have attended a night club in Colpetty following the conclusion of the matches.
Police said two of the players had suffered from respiratory difficulties after returning to the team hotel around 4am yesterday.
The hotel management had taken measures to admit the two players to hospital following which one of the British national was pronounced dead.
The other player is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo and is still in critical condition.
The corpse is placed at the Colombo National Hospital Morgue while further investigations are being carried out by the Colombo Fort Police.
