Climate change – slight increase in rainfall

Showers are expected throughout the island, especially in the southwestern part of the country and in the North Western Province this evening (05), the Meteorological Department said.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and Northwestern provinces. Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Uva, Eastern and North Central provinces and in the Mullaitivu and Vavuniya districts after 2 pm.

Heavy showers of more than 50 mm are possible in some places.

Showers or thundershowers at times in the Jaffna and Mannar districts.

The Meteorological Department warns that there could be thundershowers and strong winds during thundershowers.

Visually, the Sun moves southwards from August 28 to September 7 directly above the latitudes close to Ceylon.

The sun will be close to Angulana, Keeragala, Bogawanthalawa, Diyatalawa and Kumbukkana areas at 12.09 pm today.
