CMEV urges the public to exercise voting rights
The Centre for Monitoring Election Violence says the 2018 Local Authority Election is of significant importance.
National Coordinator of the CMEV Manjula Gajanayake urged the public to exercise their voting right as the election is held under a new electoral system.
Gajanayake said the election bears importance as it is being held within one day except in one Local Government body.
He said the new mixed electoral system will be implemented for the Parliamentary Election in the future adding that all individuals should vote in favour of a candidate who will be able to represent the relevant electoral units.
