Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today revealed that the Prime Minister’s Security Division was not notified by defence and intelligence agencies of a possible attack on the 21st of April.
Testifying before the Parliament Select Committee probing the Easter Sunday attacks, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe noted that he was not invited to attend the National Security Council meeting after the 2018 October constitutional crisis.
The Prime Minister said the NSC meeting were a monthly occurrence before October 2018. Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe said the rise of extremism in the country was deliberated on several occasions.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe commenced testifying before the Select Committee probing the Easter Sunday attacks in Parliament at around 6.10 this evening.
State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardena, former Ministers of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake and Ranjith Madduma Bandara also testified before the Committee today.
