Namal Rajapaksa And Others Remanded – Burnt Tires On The Road
Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and the others were remanded until October 16 by the Hambantota District Magistrate Manjula Karunarathne yesterday (10).
In order to make a statement regarding the organizing of a protest in Hambantota in the absence of court orders last Friday (06),
# MP Namal Rajapaksa,
# Western Provincial Council Member Upali Kodikara,
# MP DV Chanaka,
# MP Prasanna Ranaweera,
# Southern Provincial Council Member Sampath Atukorale and
# Major Ajith Prasanna
They were arrested at the Hambantota Police Station last afternoon.
The suspects were produced before the Hambantota District Magistrate Manjula Karunaratne and ordered to be remanded until the 16th of this month.
As a result of arresting and remanding them,
# The illegal assembly,
# Damage to public property,
# Wounding a police officer,
# Disrupting duties,
# Breach of court orders
Five charges have been filed.
The MP Namal Rajapaksa and the others who were remanded were taken to the Tangalle Prison and burnt tires on the road which caused minor obstructions to the road.
