Petition Against Neththikumara’s Arrest Dismissed
The Supreme Court today dismissed the fundamental rights petition filed by Shanil Neththikumara, seeking a court order preventing his arrest for allegedly threatening a witness in the Treasury Bond investigation.
The businessman had filed the motion last week stating that there is an attempt to arrest him for allegedly threatening Anika Wijeysuriya for testifying against former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the treasury bond scam.
The petition was taken up before a three-member judge bench at the Supreme Court today (28).
However, the court decided to dismiss the FR petition without taking it up for hearing, on the grounds that the request had no legal basis.
