The Ministry of Health states that in addition to the IDH hospital in Colombo, patients with suspected coronaviruses will be sent to Ragama, Gampaha, Negombo, Kandy, Karapitiya, Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Kurunegala, Ratnapura, Batticaloa and Badulla hospitals.
A Chinese woman suffering from coronavirus is currently receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Angoda. A 43-year-old Chinese woman who arrived in Sri Lanka from Hubei province in China was admitted to IDH Hospital on Saturday due to a high fever. Subsequent blood samples showed that she was infected with coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health said investigations and inquiries are being conducted into the areas visited by the woman and her associates. Director of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said that people who have been in contact with the patient should take care of their health for at least two weeks.
In addition, the National Institutes of Health says it is investigating the blood samples of six patients suspected of contracting the disease. Director of the National Institute of Medical Sciences Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara said steps would be taken to further strengthen the investigations into the virus.
