SriLankan report due today – Airline makes request from passengers

The Ministry of Public Enterprises Development has requested for a report on the delay of flights belonging to SriLankan Airlines.

According to the Secretary of the Ministry, Ravindra Hewawitharana, the report is to be handed over to the ministry by SriLankan Airlines, this morning.

SriLankan Airlines noted that flights belonging to the national carrier were delayed following technical diffculties that arose in two flights.

As a result of this situation, the Media Spokesperson of SriLankan Airlines, Deepal Perera has requested passengers to check in for flights online or to contact their 24-hour call centre hotline on 019-7331979 arriving at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

In a media release, SriLankan Airlines noted that due to a “Combination of unforeseen events, including a bird strike which damaged an aircraft in Cochin,” there have been continuing delays and congestion at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

The media release also adds that the staff of SriLankan Airlines have been working round the clock to restore the flight schedule back to normalcy.
