Former minister Rajitha Senaratne who was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Narahenpita has been temporarily suspended.
Reports say that this has been done as his health has deteriorated.
A senior official of the Department of Prisons stated that the special team of officers who had gone to bring him back to the prison hospital has been recalled.
The former minister has informed the private hospital where he is receiving treatment to take immediate action to transfer the former minister to the prison hospital.
Accordingly, a team of prison officers arrived at the hospital this afternoon with an ambulance.
The Chief Medical Officer of the Prisons Hospital visited the Narahenpita Private Hospital yesterday morning to inquire into the health condition of the former Minister Rajitha Senaratne who is being remanded.
Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne has been remanded till tomorrow.
This was after Colombo Additional Magistrate Ms. Salani Perera visited the private hospital in Narahenpita where he was being treated.
