‘Govt unaware of some concerns in rural areas’
President Maithripala Sirisena says the public in rural areas face many hardships that the government does not hear of.
Addressing a development meeting the Head of State said Ministers of the respective regions do not inform the Cabinet of Ministers of such matters.
The Head of State noted even though there are organisations in place to address such concerns and assist the public, there are still some issues the government is unaware of.
The President stressed the government provide sufficient funds adding however the concern is whether the public receive the provisions appropriately.
President Sirisena said if the relevant Ministers do not attend to the concerns of the public then such incidents should be reported and should be taken up for discussion during Cabinet meetings.
