Diplomatic Passport holder arrested with drug kingpin
An individual possessing a diplomatic passport has been found to be among several people arrested in Dubai alongside notorious criminal ‘Makandure Madush’.
The Khaleej Times reported the individual was discovered to be in possession of the diplomatic passport following investigations after the arrest.
The underworld leader and drug lord Madhush Lakshitha alias ‘Makandure Madush’, who led an organized crime and drug trafficking ring in Sri Lanka was arrested in Dubai on Tuesday.
He was arrested with 24 others including several other organized criminals and a popular singer, at an event held at a hotel in Dubai.
It was also reported that the suspects were in the possession of illegal narcotics at the time of the raid.
Madush, who is among Sri Lanka’s most wanted criminals, had been evading arrest for several years.
Meanwhile however Police say reports on the arrest of the drug kingpin and several others in Dubai cannot be officially confirmed.
Police Media Spokesman Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara said he has not received any official information pertaining to the arrests.
