Disregard tenders when dealing with emergencies – President
President Maithripala Sirisena has issued directives to health officials to promptly address concerns and curb the spread of a viral fever in Southern Province.
A viral fever spreading across the Southern Province has claimed 11 lives thus far. A combination of three viruses has caused the spread of the disease in the province. President Sirisena during an observational visit to the Ministry of Health instructed officials to take necessary actions in order to curb the spread of the viral fever.
The Head of State has said he will issue orders to line ministries to release necessary funds and had alerted the Ministry officials of the possibility of overlooking tender processes during an emergency situation.
The Ministry of Education meanwhile has instructed to close all the primary schools in the Southern Province due to the spread of the viral flu.
