I rid country of international challenges – MS
President Maithripala Sirisena says he has rid the country of challenges faced internationally, including allegations of war crimes against soldiers.
Speaking at the inaugural election rally of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in Anuradhapura the President said such results followed the 2015 election.
The President said he saved military personnel who were charged of war crimes from prosecution adding he managed to save the Army, Navy and Air Force personnel by submitting details to the international community.
The Head of State noted in 2013 and in 2014, the international community imposed economic sanctions adding Sri Lankan fish exports did not have a market as the EU stopped importing Sri Lankan fisheries products and apparels.
President Sirisena added the Sri Lankan economy was in shambles and had it not been for the 2015 change, the country would be insolvent and more international sanctions would’ve followed.
