Injunction Against Election Was By SLFP – Anura
Chief Opposition Whip MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake says the interim injunction order against holding the Local Government Election was an act of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
Speaking in Parliament today, MP Anura Kumara responded to a statement made by Minister Faiszer Musthapha stating that he was not responsible for delaying the Local Government Election.
Minister Musthapha said he as the subject Minister is not involved in the delay in the election claiming it was Court hearing that has delayed the conduct of the election.
Chief Opposition Whip MP Dissanayake taking the floor claimed the issue at hand is not due to injustice adding the Minister’s vested interests resulted in such a debacle.
MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake called on President Maithripala Sirisena to come forward and claim the Minister Musthapha has no connection to the ongoing Court hearing.
Meanwhile, State Minister Eran Wickramaratne says a definite day of holding elections should be included when formulating the new Constitution.
Speaking in parliament today, State Minister Wickramaratne said the United National Party vehemently condemns delaying any election.
