Mega delegation didn’t accompany MS for CHOGM
The President’s Media Division has rejected numerous media reports that had claimed that a mega 100-member delegation accompanied the President to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London.
The PMD in a statement said fabricated information have been circulated in public platforms regarding the official delegation of President Maithripala Sirisena to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
The statement noted that the President was accompanied by his wife, the official doctor of the President, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tilak Marapana and his wife, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, official translator and two officials attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The PMD noted electronic and print journalists of the President’s Media Division and journalists representing state and private media organisations also accompanied the President however it said the group was not part of the official delegation.
The PMD noted in addition, no other individual attended the meeting or any other forums coinciding with CHOGM at the expenses of the President’s Office.
Accordingly the statement said the PMD rejects media reports that claimed over 100-members were part of the President’s delegation to London.
