Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam says all students who failed the 2018 Ordinary Level Examination will be eligible to enter the Advanced Level.
Minister Kariyawasam said under the ’13 year compulsory education’ programme students will be eligible to study for the Advanced Level Exam in the stream of vocational studies.
226,417 students of the 422,850 school applicants who faced the 2018 Ordinary Level Examination have passed the Exam, 75% of the total applicants.
Meanwhile 9,413 students have obtained 9 A’s at the 2018 Ordinary Level Examination. The Education Minister noted a total of 6,195 students have failed all subjects.
Minister Kariyawasam added 82,426 students have failed to meet the due criteria to be eligible to move on to the Advanced Level.
The Education Minister said all students will be permitted to sit for the A/Level Exam.
