Gotabhaya Rajapaksa assumed duties today as the 7th Executive President of Sri Lanka.
After religious observances and chanting of Pirith, the newly elected President assumed duties before the Commanders of the tri-forces.
Former President Maithripala Sirisena was also present on the occasion.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was sworn in as the 7th Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka at a function held in Ruwanweli Maha Seya in Anuradhapura yesterday.
At the 2019 presidential election on November 16, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was elected president with a majority of 52.25% of the votes.
