The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has commenced discussions on the proposals presented by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
MP Dullas Alahapperuma stated that the proposal was received by the party yesterday. The MP stated that they intends to study the matter and take a final decision.
However, SLFP general secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara said that the decision of the SLPP should be taken by the 5th of this month.
“We intend to go for a final decision on the night of the 5th. With that decision, we will proceed with the next presidential election once the bailout is over.”
The logo has been the hindrance of the SLFP and the SLPP to form an alliance. However MP Ranjith Soyza states that the “Flower Bud” is the logo of the party which won the love of the people.
Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa, the National Organizer of the SLPP, said they would not hesitate to take necessary steps to reach an alliance with the SLFP.
Meanwhile, it is reported that a meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and former Minister Basil Rajapaksa was held last night. The main focus here is on the Flower Bud logo.
It was also reported that the meeting lasted for over an hour at the President’s house. However, it was further reported that the discussion had not reached a final agreement on the issue of the Flower Bud logo.
