Parliamentarian Anura Priyadharshana Yapa says taxes are required in order to maintain the country’s economy.
Speaking at a media briefing organised by the Sri Lana Podujana Peramuna this morning the MP noted taxes should not be increased by a huge margin.
MP Yapa noted taxes do not burden the public and therefore taxes should be paid willingly and no one should complain.
He stressed by increasing taxes within a short time period the manufacturing sector and public were highly inconvenienced.
Administrative Secretary of the Podujana Peramuna Renuka Perera responding to questions by journalists said Namal Kumara and Amith Weerasinghe will not be issued nominations from the party.
Perera claimed the party has not taken any measures relating to the issuance of nominations adding once an election is declared the party will publicly call for nominations from existing party members.
He stressed the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna will not create alliances with individuals who are attached to organisations controlled by various external forces and because of their behaviour in the past.
He claimed the two individuals admitted they accepted money from various groups noting therefore the party is of the stance that such individuals are not eligible to represent Parliament when compared to their financial transactions.
