Unitary status will be safeguarded – President
President Maithripala Sirisena says he will not allow anyone to divide the country.
Addressing an election propaganda rally in Matara, President Sirisena said he will protect the Unitary status of the country.
The Head of State said people still hear stories about the electric chair however adding he has provided his explanation to the international community.
The President stressed the government will not allow anyone to execute the electric chair.
President Sirisena noted he has taken the responsibility to investigate allegations of human rights abuses.
The Head of State said the government will also ensure that no one is allowed to divide the country or present a federal constitution.
The President said he will safeguard the Unitary Status of the country.
