UNP Does Not Want To Split Any Political Parties – Kabir
UNP General Secretary Kabir Hashim says that their sole objective is to strengthen the United National Party (UNP) and not to break apart the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
He said this in response to a question posed by a journalist, at a press briefing held in Colombo today (8), as to whether the UNP dislikes former President Mahinda Rajapaksa joining hands with President Maithripala Sirisena.
He said that the UNP’s attempt is to establish a democratic structure and assured that they would dedicate themselves to safeguarding it.
The General Secretary said that the UNP has no need to cause any political parties to split and said he wishes the best for all those who can join together.
He said that the United National Party does not follow a policy which causes religious differences like certain political parties.
Kabir Hashim said that although the SLFP and UNP joining together is difficult, they are able to work under the same identity due to the agreement they have reached.
