Former State Minister of Child Affairs, Vijayakala Maheswaran has written to the UNP investigation committee regarding the controversial statement she made on the revival of the LTTE.
In her letter, she had noted that such a statement was made as she was disappointed with the recent developments in the North.
The letter was written in response to a request made by the UNP investigation committee on presenting facts regarding her statement.
A 4-member committee comprising of UNP ministers was appointed to carry out an investigation to look in to as to why such a statement was made by MP Vijeyakala Maheswaran.
The UNP General Secretary, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Chairman of the party Kabir Hashim, Ranjith Maddumabandara and Thalatha Atukorala are part of this committee.
Meanwhile, the Police Organized Crimes Prevention Division said yesterday that the statements recorded on her controversial remarks will be sent to the Attorney General.
Around 25 statements have been recorded including those from Minister Vajira Abeywardena, Northern Province Chief Minister C.V Vigneswaran, district secretaries of Mulativu and Vavuniya districts, as well as Samurdhi officers and Grama Niladari officers who were present at the event when the MP made that statement.
