MP Herath stated that Mahinda Rajapaksa should understand that President Sirisena ruined the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna that was somewhat raising its head under Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Parliamentarian said President Sirisena and Mahinda Rajapaksa should humbly step down without making silly statements, and accept the majority.
He added if not the present situation could lead to a major crisis.
JVP MP Nalinda Jayatissa joining the debate reiterated that this political coup should be defeated.
MP Jayatissa questioned as to whether a country forge ahead with a President who disregards the Constitution, the people’s mandate and ethics adding that no one should be allowed to engage in any illegal deals in order to form a government.
He noted the Speaker and 122 MPs intervened for the past 5 weeks in order to defeat this conspiracy adding that the Supreme Court, the Appeals Court and even Parliament have reiterated the opinion of a majority.
The MP stressed that the people have understood this and are rallying against this coup.
