Govt facing conflicts for children’s betterment – PM
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the present government is facing various conflicts and challenges in order to create a brighter future for younger generations.
Speaking at an event held in Marawila, Premier Wickremesinghe said the government is determined to find solutions to key issues in the country.
Premier Wickremesinghe noted when he came into power the Hambantota Port did not have any ships, but now there are ships after the agreement with the China Merchants Company adding talks were in progress with the Indian Authorities in bringing the Mattala Airport back to life.
Premier added initiatives were being taken to establish an industrial zone in Hambantota which is about 10,000 acres in area.
He also noted currently the area from Kandy to Hambantota has been identified for this purpose.
Premier Wickremesinghe added another zone will be implemented in Kalutara.
Premier stated this was just the beginning.
Premier Wickremesinghe noted discussions were in progress to bring in new businesses related to IT.
Premier stated his government faced the debt burden and several natural disasters adding an economic burden was also faced owing to the strengthening of the US dollar where many other currencies have depreciated as well.
Premier said his government was on the mission to find solves for these problems.
Premier stressed the overall purpose behind every solution we are seeking for is to establish a brighter future for the children.
