Spill gates of several reservoirs open due to heavy rain
The Disaster Management Centre says the spill gates of several reservoirs have been opened across the island due to incessant rains.
Deputy Director and Media Spokesman of the DMC Pradeep Koddippili advised the public residing in low lying areas to remain vigilant.
He said six spill gates of the Parakrama Samudraya, four spill gates of the Rajanganaya reservoir, one spill gate of the Angamuwa Tank, four spill gates of the Deduru Oya and one spill gate of the Kukule Ganga Dam were opened.
Pradeep Koddippili noted however the spill gates of the Thabbowa reservoir, Laxapana reservoir, Kotmale reservoir and the Kala Wewa have been closed.
