In the second leg of the Asian Seven Rugby Tournament, the Sri Lankan team led by Dhanushka Dayan won two easy victories by defeating South Korea and Chinese Taipei.
The tournament will be held in Huizhou, China. In their first match against South Korea on Saturday, Janindu Dilshan scored two tries and Sri Lanka won the match by 28-05.
Kevin Dixon and Jason Dissanayake scored the other two tries. Dilshan, Dixon and Thilina Wijesinghe added extra points for the try.
Gwon Min Kim scored the only try for Korea.
Sri Lanka maintained their momentum in the first match and beat the Chinese Taipei team by 26-17.
Kevin Dixon pushed the Sri Lankan team ahead with a try before the first minute. However, Taipei player Lia Tae Ming made a try and scored 7-5 as the Sri Lankan team got away with the defense. The two teams then scored two more goals but at the break Sri Lanka were leading 14-12.
After the break, Jason Dissanayake and Janindu Dilshan scored two more tries, but only one of them was converted. Chinese Taipei scored the only try after the break and the score was 26-17 at the end of the match.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan women’s team lost both matches in the women’s tournament. The Sri Lankan women’s team beat by Hong Kong 22-7 and Malaysia 20-5.
