National team on training camp to face Windies
The Sri Lankan cricket team left for Kandy last evening for an eight-day residential training camp that gets underway today at the Pallekele International Stadium.
The training camp is in preparation for the upcoming tour of West Indies and will begin with a practice match which is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM local time under lights using a pink ball.
The last Test of the three-match series, in Barbados, will be a day-night pink ball Test.
Meanwhile white-ball captain Angelo Mathews, who has been sidelined since January this year with a series of hamstring and calf injuries, will make a comeback to international cricket in West Indies.
He will be part of the training camp in Kandy.
Sri Lanka will leave for West Indies on the 25th of May.
The first Test gets underway on the 6th of June in Port of Spain, followed by games in St. Lucia and Barbados.
Sri Lanka have never won a Test series in West Indies with their last tour to the Caribbean being ten years ago.
