The General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways has appointed a 5-member committee to study the proposed train fare hike.
It will be implemented after the New Year.
The General Manager of SLR, S. M. Abeywickrema has appointed this committee.
It will include Superintendent (Transport), Gamini Seneviratne, Deputy Superintendent of Commercial Affairs, N. T. Indipolage, Chief Accountant and Assistant Accountant.
The Committee is headed by Additional General Manager of Operations, Wijaya Samarasinghe.
The GM of SLR said the train fares have not been increased since 2008.
