‘We will not harm Parliamentary norms’
United People’s Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa says the group does not intend on harming or abusing Parliamentary norms.
Speaking during a media briefing at the Parliamentary complex today MP Weerawansa said the UPFA left the Parliamentary chamber during the vote on the Speakers decision to appoint a Select Committee to maintain peace in the chamber.
He noted the UPFA faction does not have any intention of breaching the trust that the public has placed on Parliament and shatter the dreams of future generations.
Joining the media briefing MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena said the UPFA will abstain from referring to Karu Jayasuriya as the Speaker of House henceforth.
MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena said the Tamil National Alliance will never support any government.
Speaking during a media briefing at the Parliamentary complex MP Abeygunawardena said therefore the UPFA has a majority representation of 103 MPs in Parliament.
The Parliamentarian stressed the faction is willing to contribute to efforts that are in line with Parliamentary norms adding However if Speaker Karu Jayasuriya is attempting to create instability within Parliament, his name will go down in history.
